"My father-in-law was in a home in Metcalfe, it was Christmas and we went to visit him, as we were told it was not a good idea to take him to our home. When we arrived for our visit, he was asleep and we were asked not to wake him. We sadly left and his gifts were left unwrapped. A PSW took her lunch break to sit with him to open his gift. We never got over this act of compassion from a wonderful PSW, Deb Armstrong, we will never forget your kindness!"

"I am a PSW,and love my job. I had to deal with a woman literally dying on her bathroom floor she was palliative and was full of cancer.i worked the night shift which has no nurses on that one shift. Then all different call bells go off. We couldn’t just leave this woman lying there as she was in so much pain and I think she knew she was dying at this time. My partner and myself basically had to leave this poor soul lying on her floor to attend other call bells. We were yelled at , spat at cussed out etc. Because we did not come right away. There just isn’t enough hands to go around. The woman on the floor did pass away in the hospital that morning. This is my biggest pet peeve of this business . NOT ENOUGH STAFF. This still bothers me TIL this day. We need more help so more money will help."

"A PSW is a special person healthcare can not perform without. From a daily friendly smile to taking care of their feeding, bathing, and everyday care a PSW should be recognized for perserverance, hard work and a compassionate environment. There is something special to be said about people who dedicate their lives to helping those who need it the most! Not only are you helping people who dedicated their lives to the earth and soul of our world, but to their families in care. Thank you for your continued support and ongoing care! Thank you!💙💙💙💙"

"In my 20 years of being a certified PSW I have truly been so humbled to learn that EVERYONE, rich or poor and in any situation, has a valid back story that compelled them to the life they lead. God sent me to this line of work to "unlearn judgement" I have been so fortunate to give back to those who built my community through their retail, commercial businesses and volunteer efforts. I have been well appreciated for saving a life or for the compassion and grief assistance after a sudden death. We serve those at thier very most vulnerable and otherwise shameful moments of their lives. But we are so skilled that we help our patients realize that their is no shame in needing help. When I am faced with the first time resistance of accepting help my mantra is "well in the words of Joe Cocker we all get by with a little help from our friends.""

"My name is Jessica, and I do not work in a long term care facility. I've worked in home care and now I work in a retirement home, with an assisted living building attached. My position is "resident care advocate" My job consists of doing resident care in the morning, from 7-730. Before Covid had hit we had an hour to do all of our care, now half an hour, with the same amount of residents and same amount of staff. We now have 6 meal times a day, and four of those fall on my shift. Between bringing the residents down for meals I am responsible for stripping and remaking 10-14 beds in 20 minutes. Most times alone. After all the residents have eaten breakfast I am left to do full housekeeping. Wich intails to dust, vaccuum , clean bath tubs, toilets, sinks and wash the floors. All while answering call bells. Which we have 9 minutes to answer a call and only 2 PSW's on the floor to 80 residents. Given all residents don't need care, but 60% of our residents are dementia or in wheel chairs and incontinent. We are not a lock down facility, so we are also constantly chasing after our flight risk residents which we have several. We do not have lifts, our lifts are our backs. If someone goes unresponsive or unconscious we are responsie for CPR. I have done it myself and both times the residents died, not because of me but because of other complications . I just feel that retirement homes are severely over looked , just as much as long term care. I really hope the government steps up their game and fix these problems that have been going on for ages. I am a people person , kind, caring and compassionate. I love my job, in the sense of taking care of people. I love being around people. However, Since Covid has come, our lives have changed so much. We are working endlessly at disinfecting the building and adjusting our daily routines implementing social distancing to keep the residents, ourselves and our families safe. I used to love the one on one time I would have with them. Now we are unable to do so. But We are still the first face they see in the morning and the last they see at night, and everything in between . They deserve proper care, dignity and respect. Let's see the change!"

"Being a PSW is truly a rewarding job. I love going to work each day with the challenge of "how can I make a difference." I work alongside a team of nurses and doctors that have a workload of their own so I strive to go over and above to relieve some of their workload and give patients their best day during their most difficult days. I am part of NHS Staff Resourcing Team so I have the challenges of going to different sites and different units and working with a variety of teams of professionals, which makes my job interesting everyday. I live by this saying "Be the rainbow in someone else's cloud." I truly am proud to work for the NHS and hoping our union can fight for a pay increase to provide us with wages we work so hard for!"

"Hi, I am an RPN and a Director of Care in a Retirement Home. I have worked with PSWs both in LTC and Retirement. Our PSWs are the real First Responders. These Women and Men are the first to answer the call! They are the first to see the hand reaching out for help. They are the real hero to sit and wait with the scared and injured to be assessed by the Nurse. They are the first face the vulnerable Senior sees waking up and the first face they see saying Goodnight. They deserve so much more respect and honour. They work so hard with only minimal wage. They really do Love what they do because no one would do this for the long hours, poor pay, sad working conditions and lack of respect. God Bless you Personal Support Workers. My Heart and Praise goes to all of you."

"I feel like we have one of the best jobs there is. I come home every day exhausted but uplifted. Our clients are so grateful that we are able to help them stay in their homes as long as possible. They are afraid of LTC. We need to see huge changes to how long term care is run so that our seniors feel safe in moving somewhere where all of their needs can be met with care and my colleges have fair pay and time to spend with their clients. That’s where the value of PSW’s is being overlooked. In some cases we are the only faces they see and they depend on us. I love my job but we can do better! Our seniors DESERVE better."

"I first worked a PSW in the community doing home care, then I started in a private nursing home. The very first day on the job I realized how different the care is. It was like a factory assembly line. That is because there was a too large ratio of residents to the caregivers. They also hoarded supplies by hiding them to ensure there were enough diapers for the residents . I think it's shameful but that's the truth. The owner stole our union dues and the union had to hire a lawyer. He took government funding for the home and used it personally instead of for the reason it was intended. Private homes need more inspection. I also worked in a government regional home, somewhat better but still supply issues. I know what it means to work short staffed and under supplied and it's very hard on workers who try their best and go home crying and hurting."

Coming to Canada made it a kind of possible for me to do what I love best ' helping others' I waited for my dtr to finish her studies and then I decided to do the course for PSW could not afford to do nursing. I work in the community and I love my job, my clts and their families are part of me now, especially my Clts i never feel sad nor demoralized, there is so much respect and so much I have been taught about life lessons, I had this Clt, he pass now ,but i felt he was my dad and i do so up to date, he would instill in me about savings and family values and what it takes to be comfortable when I become an elder myself, he would make sure to asked about my family and always would said to me' never be afraid to asked for help that pride never give you what you want only sadness' He would always be a part of me RIP!♥️ I love my job and I love helping those out there who is unfortunate also."

They made each day i was there brighter, they were supportive and helpful. They work hard and have to have spécial personalities to do the job. It is demanding, yet they keep smiling, they try hard to put smiles on the residents faces. They certainly made my stay memorable, i found it hard to leave, looked forward to seeing them daily. Some stayed right at the home, sacrificed seeing their own family as the covid ordeal hit to keep residents safe. A great group of hard working PSWs touched me while i was healing, ❤"

Hes incredible the love & devotion he has for his patients truly melts my heart! He gives his heart &soul to anyone that's in need especially his family & his residents, I have seen him come home some nights after work & he's just absolutely exhausted physically & emotionally ESPECIALLY when always working short staffed but wanting to give his patients the time they need & deserve, he's come home with his shirt tore up one side or pocket missing as was ripped off by a patient who wasn't clearly awear of what he/she was doing & all he does is come home shake it off & go right back the next day still giving 100 no matter what. He never asks for anything & is an amazing & attentive daddy to our daughter & incredible partner to me as I been & continue to go through health hurdles, I don't know how I got so lucky to find such a true GEM!💙"

"My wife and I been living at Chartwell Senior Resident 1- Henry Ave leamington since July 1-2018- and in general we been treated very good, but one thing we noticed that the majority of the employee keep on changing. We noticed that even some of the management personnel have been chanced. We believe that it is something wrong with the wages and benefit that causes this problems. We know that their job isn't a easy one to deal whit old people, but we believe that if their wages and benefits would be more adequate, probably they would stay here for longer time. They all doing really good job by trying on serving us the best way they can, but it would be much better for us having the same server all the time. I been greenhouse farmer and I dealt with worker and by trying to keep the same worker, I had a better result all the time. That's my opinion!"

"Thanks for the opportunity to share my thoughts. I have been a PSW since 1998. I began in the community and moved onto LTC. Now I'm 64 and working in the same facility but in Retirement where we face oh so many challenges. We have a majority of residents who are waiting for LTC. I serve many who are suffering from dementia. My Mom passed away 6 years ago from breast cancer. I'll never get over that blow but she lives everyday in my resident's eyes. Never will I forget what she told me one day in her final months. "Elaine, you take care of those dear people". Mom visited friends in LTC and Retirement until she could no longer. She would take them a small plant, or maybe a church bulletin. I inherited my Mom's knack of empathy, respect, and genuine care and concern for the elderly. I believe we must preserve their dignity. Everyday my Mom lives in the eyes of my resident's who don't understand this unforgiving Covid 19. No activities, no outside, but the worse is no family or friends coming in. Everyday I do the best I can. Unfortunately I can't do more because of job duties. I work in a FOR PROFIT HOME which means a skeleton staff because the profit lines the pockets of the greedy CEO's who are millionaires because of their profits. I do my best everyday, and I wish I could do more, but my hands are tied. Thanks Mom for the gift of insight, I see you everyday in the eyes of my residents. I'll never see it in my career but I hope down the road PSW's are given the gift of TIME to be able to give more to our residents."

"Carol, my younger sister, is a frontline worker and we have been sharing tears and knowledge through our many telephone conversations. Months before the pandemic was announced, my compassionate sister made the effort to social-distance her clients and protect their physical and mental wellbeing. Carol and I verbally strategized social-distancing and the placement of tables, chairs for her village’s clients. Rising to the challenge and assisting to educate her peers! By February, Carol implemented video chats for her clients and their families during her off-hours. Together we discussed various crafts, physical exercises and verbal enhancement strategies. Carol assisted the monitoring of staff break and lunch times thus ensuring proper social-distancing. Reading about international success stories regarding LTC facilities helped mould Carol’s leadership strategies. Thinking proactively saving the lives of many! So VERY proud of my loving ‘baby’ sister and wanted to share OUR story!! PSWs are awesome, indeed!!"

"For the most part of my working career I worked as administrative assistant or other office positions. December 23rd 2008 my Mom was diagnosed with lung cancer, she started her treatments and my Dad was doing his best to take care of her at home. I have two sisters and we were taking turns to help our Mom and Dad so he can get out and do errands. My Moms oncologist said he was sending my Moms info to the CCAC (Now known as LHIN), at the time we had no idea about any of these service this was a side of healthcare we new nothing about. Over the course of two years my Mom kept battling cancer it kept coming back but in different area of her body. PSWS started coming to help Mom With her cares and that my Dad could get some respite, I had heard of PSW but I never knew what it was that they did. The PSWS that came were so nice they truly cared, they also recognized the stress we were under and for that I cannot thank them enough. April 18, 2011 my Mom passed away she was 65 years old. The company I was working for was sold and unfortunately I was part of the restructuring and out of work, I already knew what I wanted to do so at age 48 I went back to school to become a PSW, it was my way of thanking the PSWS in my community for helping our family through a very difficult 3 years. I absolutely love being a PSW, I love giving back to my community. Forward to today, I have been working in a Long Term Care Home for the past 6 years and I now have a very large extended family my residents and my coworkers. If someone was to ask me that they are thinking about becoming a PSW I would tell them this.....you will love it, yes it is a hard job, yes you will be tired, yes your feet and body will ache some days, yes you will cry and grieve when a resident passes away, but when a family member comes for a visit and when they are leaving and say to you “Thank you so much for caring, I know when I leave here my Grandma, Grandpa, my Mom, Dad, Aunt and/or Uncle are safe and loved” they can sleep well and not worry is one of the most ultimate acts of trust. I’m so honoured and privileged to help members of my community with their daily activities or with their last breath."

"I had the privilege to work in LTC Management for several years. During my time I worked with several exceptional PSWs. Time and again these staff members carried out their duties caring for the most vulnerable of our society. Not only did they care for them, they loved them like their own families. I witnessed PSWs going without breaks or meals to sit at the bedside of a dying resident. I witnessed PSWs staying after their shift to visit a lonely resident. What makes this even more incredible is that these same Health Care Providers were often the lowest paid and hardest working!!! PSWs are the heart of the LTC communities."

Being beaten by aggressive residents and when it’s reported being asked what did you do that triggered the incident instead of being asked by management are you okay Being hit so hard I had a concussion and I’m still feeling the effects Being a PSW is a thankless job however I love what I do and for the people I’m helping each day With everything that has happened in this pandemic I can only hope our work conditions will improve I hope the government and the unions will work like they have never worked before for better pay and better conditions for all PSW."

"As a PSW, I have come to realize that we give of ourselves everyday with rewards from our residents - not huge pay cheque’s or glorified titles but hugs, sometimes kisses on the cheek or the thank you’s with their whole face. These acts of appreciation and thanks kept me going in to work for 22+ years. In that time, we have seen so many things that continually challenge us to do more with less. The real heroes are the residents and staff who succumbed to this virus. We will continue to advocate for the rights and needs of our residents."

"I'd like to give thanks to a PSW that I work with. Her name is Ragbhir A. She has worked for many years at West Park Healthcare Centre. This wonderful PSW is the person to call, after your admission comes with new information about disruptive behaviours, not included in their original admission medical application. Ragbhir prefers to work nights, and with our ABI/Neuro patient's, who tend to be very disruptive to other patient's, especially during the night! Ragbhir responds fearlessly to our calls for 1:1 assistance of a PSW. She is professionally turned out every shift, she has learned the terminology that will get things done, and that will invoke a collaborative response from her colleagues in an emergency. She is competent and kind, in all of her dealings with these patients who are often confused and scared. Ragbhir assesses the "new" patient's while on duty. She establishes predictable patterns of behaviour, their transfer, continence status, and by morning can contribute to the development of their care plans. She does this in an especially professional and compassionate way that helps improve (from day one) the client experience and patient outcomes. For some PSW's, this type of contribution isn't expected. Ragbhir identified early in her career, the types of patient's that she enjoys working with, and researched her own learning requirements to provide a higher degree of participation in the care that she could provide. She has become a considerable asset to the entire campus, based on her skills, experience and knowledge. She is a 'Unsung" asset to our team, and an inspiration to other PSW's who may aspire to critical involvement in the multidisciplinary team . I say unsung, because Ragbhir works the night shift and is not often recognized with the positive feedback that she deserves for her abilities. I would like to thanks her for her commitment to nursing, to her profession, and to her attributes on this, PSW Day. I would hope that as an SEIU member identified, that we could all appreciate her too. Happy PSW Day, to all of the wonderful SEIU PSW's that do all of the exhausting, FOUNDATIONAL work of their respective workplaces. It's the very hardest job, you're ever going to LOVE in healthcare! We all respect and thank you HERO's."

"It's a profession sometimes overlooked, underrated, unappreciated, underpaid, overworked (LTC/RH). It's taking a toll on us physically and mentally especially during this COVID-19 ordeal! There's mismanagement and negligence by the management. LTC needs its system to be reviewed, rectified and be changed. Workers needs stability, benefits and full time job! Many of us are still casual for years with no benefit! To all employers of LTC/RH respect your workers especially PSW's. Don't just sit and talk! Despite all these, I love coming to work and knowing that our elderly is being cared for every single day. They become our extended family and I salute my fellow PSW's especially those who are genuine, compassionate, hard working and loving fellows towards the residents. Stay safe and may God bless us all!"

"My mother was a PSW fory whoke childhood. My siblings and I and patients were on the same level of care for her. She literally broke her back looking after her patients with her whole heart, body and mind. She was called a Health Care Aid back then but many times was functioning as a nurse in that nursing home. Underappreciated and way underpaid, undersupported by management and CEO'S who never really ever cared about patients or frontline staff. My grandmother was supported by PSW'S in her last months of life. They helped me to help her stay safe when I had to work. They stayed patient focused and showed her love and patience. "hi everyone I'm a PSW working in long-term care but unfortunately I have to choose one and I choose my full-time because I love what I'm doing and I love the resident yes I miss my resident at my other long-term care home we are the first and the last or residents see before we go home either a 7:3,7 :2 3:11 or11 : 7, but yet we are the forgotten ones you cannot call a DOC or a register nurse to do care they still have to call on a PSW if a bell ring they will leave that Bell and come and call on you to see what the resident want instead of just asking the residents what they need half of the time they actually just need a pill from the nurse."

"First off I'd like to give props to all my fellow PSW's....I've been a LTC PSW for just shy of 12 years...I've had my share of bumps in the road over the years but i believe the support of my peers gets me through it. I use a combination of compassion and humor with my residents. I've been fortunate enough to work in different aspects of my PSW role from doing restorative care, to joining the BSO team and even doing the dreaded hand hygiene audits 😃. Looking back on the last decade plus I don't think I'd change much of anything. I really enjoy what I do and who I do it with. Go team!"

"Hi .I work long term care almost 15 years. When corona virus pandemic My work place emailed us and informed we have some cases.First of covids days we did not enough PPE and managemen did not get well organize.First and second week of pandemic it was desaster and started more cases also deaths.Same time because my family health problem I did not go to home .I started to stay at work place. They provided a room and clean bed.But I could not sleep well.We had short staff and I started double shift .After one week residents passed away. The worst things happened at my life.Funeral homes refuses the come up and take the their bodies and I was preparing the death body for funeral homes.I wrapped 6 death body ,take them down and gave them.I was tired and sleepless from stress and double shift but someone have to help the residents. After one week our management provided hotel for us who does not going to home.I was one of them .Since April 7 staying at hotel.During the terrible pandemic we are working hard ,short staff and not enough PPE. When our staff got covid positive we scared more and panic.I paid $44 for shoes cover and cap,$54 for overall,$50 for face shield of 5.Same time families understand how hard we are working and they donated some equipment like overall ,masks, caps and some foods.A few weeks ago NYGH doctors and nurses came and they check us how hard working also we did have enough PPE .They also donated gown ,masks and face shields. Still we are working hard and trying our residents make happy and safe.We give best care during the pandemic time .I feed my resident well not going my break and not getting rest.I believe one day people understand and realize how hard job we are doing."

"My residents are my extended family. I love and care for them the way I love and care for my own family, most times even more than I care for my own. They depend on me to keep them safe but sometimes I don't have all the proper tools to do so. I need the government and the people that runs and oversees these long-term care homes to do a lot better to protect us PSW and our residents. We do a job that most in our society won't do. We need to be paid well and we need to be respected and appreciated a whole lot more. The only way for us to survive in this very expensive city financially, if we only work for one employer is to be paid better."

"Hello My name is Shelley M. I've always had an interest in the healthcare field for as long as i could remember. I am married and raised a family and thought it was time that mom had something for her self. So i up graded my education and i became a psw. Being a Psw for me means that i can provide the most excellence of care put families at ease knowing that there loved ones are well taken care of. Alot of families are not always able to care for there loved ones the way they would like too. So this is why we are here to help them out 24 hours a day 7 days a week which ever comes first. I love my job i couldn't see myself doing any other job. We are the eyes ears and voices of the people they depend on us for these things. They have lessons to teach us interesting stories as well as heartbreaking stories we are there back bone so we need to be strong for them all. At the end of the day you always learn something new and then do it all over the next day. What we need right ow is for everyone to keep doing there part in social distancing stay home if your not feeling well and to wash your hands and check in on your loved ones friends and neighbors if they need something and your able to help please help them out this is very gratifying. Also lets keep everyone healthy and safe. "As a child I always wanted to be a nurse. Things happened in my life & my dream of being a nurse kept getting pushed back. My daughter now 24 became an RPN. She is an any nurse & I am so proud of her. I started working at a Long Term Care facility September 2017 as a dietary aide & absolutely loved working with the residents. I have a special place in my heart for all these residents, as I lost all my grandparents years ago. After being out of high school for 27 years & some encouragement from my daughter & much support from my husband, I applied to Georgian College to do the PSW program. This was a difficult decision to go back to school after being out of high school for so long. I was so very nervous that first day!! All I can say is, I wouldn’t change a thing!!! I graduated with honours!!! I absolutely love what I do !!!! I have had days I’ve laughed & days I have cried! Every moment is special & cherish every one!!!!"

"I’d like to thank all SEIU and members who have rallied for us Healthcare Workers. I have yet to see the 4.00 hr raise thru this pandemic from our employer. We are working 12 hr shifts now cuz of Covid so getting on line to join conversations with other union stewards or Health and Safety concerns is not happening. There are so many changes that have to happen in our healthcare system and we are working so much it’s almost impossible to speak up. Our employers are literally killing us. Often I hear we are frontline workers we appreciate all you do but I think to myself Do You? If you did so much of this neglect towards us wouldn’t happen. I can’t say I am proud to be a PSW anymore because I feel so used and not shown respect encouragement or compassion. The general public and government and employers need to put action into place and help because we can’t do it all. Eg. Families of residents could become more involved especially if their loved one is aggressive physically/mentally to help in daily cares it would help the resident and the family would have a better understanding of our job, there are so many things they can do if they really cared, by your love one clothing, come to the home and read to them, feed them, sing to them. Do Something! Government and employers can pay us enough afford to stay in our jobs so we can pay our bills, feed and take care of our families and put our kid thru schooling. Once again I thank SEIU for trying to help the Healthcare workers and making a change for the better."

I consider being a PSW as a rewarding profession to help others, and dont classify it as a job. Its rewarding to help others in their most difficult times in their lives. "I would like to send a huge thank you to heather moxely who works at trillium villa in sarnia. Everyday she is working overtime, before this pandemic started as yet still. She is always going above and beyond ensuring every single resident feels special. Loosing out on breaks just to ensure their care is at 100 percent. I’ve never seen that much compassion and care in a psw before. Did I mention she recently won an award for perfect attendance for the past 3 years. I hope everyone learns from her and we as psw keep praising and learning."

"My job as a PSW each day is one of the most thankful job as each day the residents will show you their appreciation in so many ways. I battle asthma and I was having trouble and had to take a step back for a few weeks. I couldnt wait to get better and come back to my job. The residents who are cognitive were so happy to see me back that i was so full of emotion. This is why I want to continue to be a PSW. I am 63 yrs old and we moved out of the city 2yrs ago. I lost my office job due to restructuring so I wanted to go back to school and become a PSW to care for the elderly. The many years working in an office I wish i would of left that field and become a PSW a long time ago. My job gives me a purpose to make a difference for someone's Mom, Father, Grandparent, a Sister or a Brother. There is no job that can top the love and appreciation I feel in my heart each day and I pray I can continue for many years."

"In January 2014 we had received word that our mom had received ‘end of life care orders’ from her primary health care provider. My sister and I teamed up to provide the necessary care required for two elderly parents each with their own separate health and mobility issues. It soon became apparent that we needed help with providing around the clock palliative care for our mom and support for our dad who was quickly losing his mobility. As I look back to that time, we would not have been able to provide the type of care our parents needed without the help of PSW’s, VON etc. I will always be grateful for the support provided by these frontline workers, who aided us with not only the actual hands on support, but for the suggestions, observations and collaboration on our care of our ailing parents. Hats off to the PSW’s who put up with difficult situations, their genuine care and compassion for their clients. Gchi-Miigwech. Joanne"

"I became a PSW at the advanced age of 61. It was the most rewarding five years of my life. I was enriched by the amazing men and women who were my clients. I worked in home care and in a retirement home. A PSW’s most important job is to observe any changes in her client’s health and well being and report her findings to her supervisor. This is a crucial responsibility. PSWs are the frontline workers in healthcare and deserve verbal and monetary appreciation."

"I have been a PSW for 10 years. I got into this field after my father's motorcycle accident left him as an incomplete quadriplegic and I saw all the care he received during his rehab. Since then I have worked in retirement as a UCP caring for over 100 residents and administering medications and now i work in Ontarios ONLY all dementia care home. Working with dementia can be challenging at times because you never know what that resident is going to be like that day. Some days are hard and I have to deal with the aggressive/abusive behaviours that are associated with the disease. Other days are great, those are the ones that I love and those are the ones that make me proud to do what I do. Those are the days that i make a resident who doesnt speak, smile, those are the days that a resident who normally is verbally aggressive says Thank You. As a PSW we're with your loved ones when you can't, we're their shoulder to cry on, a sympathetic ear, and sometimes just someone to hold their hand and tell them it's ok to go. I'm proud of what I do, I'm proud to say I'm a PSW!"

"I've been a PSW for 6 years now at a longterm care facility. The job is so rewarding, the impact we make in other people's lives, the smiles we see on their face, knowing we made a difference in that person's life in the or in their darkest hours, is a wonderful feeling. It's the little things they do that remind us why we chose this field. ❤ We are working the frontlines during this pandemic harder then we normally do, we fight for them and will continue to fight this covid-19 battle. Our residents/clients lives are worth fighting for. ❤"

"I am a PSW in the cummity for 14 years. When I was just a little girl in a third world cuntry. I would volunteer to helped the elderly in my community. One of my neighbor past away that I was helping. Her son was a Pastor. In chirch he thank me to make his mother happy in her last days, and he said that his mother have five children, but his mother last works was asking for me. My client war a War Veteran. I got help for him with 911. When he got to the hospital the doctor asked him why he decided to come to the hospital. Client said my girl send me. The doctor told him to thank me, because I save him from getting an emergency operation. Anothe time I had to get help for the same client. He pass away He leave a note for me , "Saying to my shower girl he couldn't remember my name, thank you for staying with me, and I love you" Another one of my client was Palliative, I knew that maybe he will pass away . I encourage his wife to share her fellings. I call 911 in the next room. It is a privilege to be there when someone needed someone the most in their life. Can you imagine that when some people don't have any family member. It is simple love is free so give it freely. Please do something for someone, even to say how are you and listen. The PSW in the community. We are the last to be taken care of all the time. You have no idea what our day is like. We just smile and keep going on . Stay safe everyone."

I care deeply for each of my clients as I would my own family and ill continue to keep going out there every day to keep them safe .. and a huge thank you to my fellow psw workers...
